- Title of the course: The Experience of the Sublime in Contemporary Aesthetics / Tárgy neve: A fenséges tapasztalata a kortárs esztétikákban Course code/Tárgy kódja: (MA-ERA-ITHAMS-S-23.1) Place/ Helyszín: Múzeum krt. 6-8. -132 Time/ Időpont: Thursday/ csütörtök 12:30 - 14.00 Professor/ Tárgyfelelős neve: Dr. Péter Závada, Senior Lecturer E-mail: zavadapeter@gmail.com The aim of the course: During this course, we will explore a range of theories concerning the aesthetic category of the sublime and then apply them to the context of contemporary art, architecture, film, music, sports, politics, and other pop cultural products. Az oktatás célja: Az órák során megismerkedünk a fenséges esztétikai kategóriájának számos elméletével, hogy aztán alkalmazhassuk azokat a kortárs képzőművészet, építészet, film, zene, sport, politika és más popkulturális termékek kontextusában.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The content of the course: Starting from Emmanuel Kant's concept of the beautiful and the sublime in his Critique of Judgment, we will discuss natural and the artistic beauty, disinterested pleasure, the dynamic and the mathematical sublime. We will also explore the writings of Freidrich Schiller, Edmund Burke and Jean-Francois Lyotard on the same topic, and we will analize Marc Richir's reflections on the political sublime: his ideas of incarnation and institution. We will then put these theories to the test in practice, examining them through our contemporary aesthetic experience. For each class, we choose a Discussion Co-Leader who will prepare the topic and lead the discussion with the teacher. To do this, everyone signs up for a topic at the beginning of the year. Each Co-Leader sends in a question about their topic, and shares their personal "sublime experience". It can be any natural phenomenon, or work of art. Az oktatás tartalma: Emmanuel Kant Az ítélőerő kritikája-nak szépről és fenségesről alkotott elméleteiből kiindulva tárgyaljuk az érdek nélküli tetszés, a természeti és művészeti szép, valamint a dinamikai és matematikai fenséges fogalmait. Kitérünk Friedrich Schiller, Edmund Burke és Jean-Francois Lyotard fenségesről szóló írásaira, továbbá megvizsgáljuk Marc Richir gondolatait a politikai fenségesről, az inkarnációról és az institúcióról. Majd mindezeket az elméleteket próbára tesszük a gyakorlatban, és kortárs esztétikai tapasztalatainkon keresztül vizsgáljuk őket.
