- The aim of this course is to familiarise students with the most significant writings of Virginia Woolf and their literary context. Instead of focusing on the biography alone, the course is to present the works of the modern(ist) Woolf through various interpretative frameworks (gender, narratology, etc.), showcasing the pioneering role of her writings in the Modernist movement of the first half of the twentieth century. During the course, students will be expected to engage with the set texts by close reading, and by reading the assigned academic articles.

- Selected works from Virginia Woolf, and related academic articles.
- Assessment method
- Students are expected to be familiar with the assigned texts and to participate in class discussions actively. The end-term marks will be based on class activity, an optional presentation, and a final test about the topics discussed during the course. Please note: showing up without having read the assigned text(s) will count as absence, and inactive students may be asked to complete additional tasks to be given a mark (e.g. end-term essay/oral exam, etc.).
