- This course is designed to introduce students to the best of twentieth-century and contemporary Irish writing. A further aim is to raise students’ interest in Irish history; this is to allow them to understand the cultural significance of the set texts compiled for the course.
- Course content
- Amongst others, the set texts include poems, plays and prose works by William Butler Yeats, Frank O’Connor, Patrick Kavanagh and Kate O’Brien.
- Assessment method
- Final mark is based on the mark received for the end-of-term in-class essay and on the student’s work during seminars.
