- The aim of this course is to familiarise students with some of the short fiction of modernist women writers such as Virgnia Woolf and Katherine Mansfield, and to embed those works in the related cultural and literary contexts.
- Course content
- Selected works from modernist women writers – Virginia Woolf, Katherine Mansfield, etc. –, as well as related significant works of world literature (Chekhov, Henry James, etc.) which serve as context or inspiration in form or content in the case of the selected pieces of fiction.
- Assessment method
- Students are expected to be familiar with the assigned texts and to participate in class discussions actively. The end-term marks will be based on class activity, an optional presentation, and a final short essay.
