- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to enable the student to apply modern methods and tools of literary education. To be able to plan, deliver and evaluate short teaching sessions on literature and to reflectively analyse their own pedagogical performance. Knowledge: - Knowledge of the specific competences to be developed in the teaching and learning of Hungarian literature, taking into account the age-specific characteristics of the learners, their specific developmental needs, methods of development and diagnostic assessment. - Awareness of the role and potential of Hungarian literature in the personal development of pupils. - Ability to apply the developmental areas and educational objectives of the National Curriculum and to master the content of the curriculum. - Familiarity with the academic, pedagogical-psychological and methodological aspects of curriculum selection and organisation. Skills: - Ability to deal with individual difficulties in understanding the specific contexts and concepts of the subject. - Ability to develop the learner’s personality in a variety of ways in the process of learning Hungarian literature - Ability to develop, in the process of literacy education, the personality of the learner through and for the sake of individual, personally motivated encounters with works of art. - Ability to create individual and collective frameworks for the process of interpreting works and to participate in this process in a variety of roles, such as guide, motivator, participant, helper, monitor. - Ability to take into account the key competences of the National Curriculum and to balance the requirements of the literary content to be taught with the developmental tasks. - Ability to plan work in the classroom (Hungarian literature lessons) and extra-curricular activities (workshops, student groups). - Ability to teach reading, to motivate pupils to work independently on their reading assignments, to continuously develop pupils’ reading skills and literacy, and to support pupils’ independent reading activities. - They are able to support the students’ independent acquisition of knowledge. - They are able to guide and organize student communities and they support the associations of learning groups. - They are able to valuate students’ developmental processes, scholar performance and personality improvement. Attitudes: - Commitment to developing students’ love of reading and their reading awareness. - Commitment to help pupils develop and maintain their desire to learn and create. - Awareness of the need to take into account the specific needs, ideas and initiatives of pupils in order to create the right learning environment. - Commitment to assessment that enhances learning. - They control the formation of students’ positive attitude toward life-long learning. Autonomy, responsibility: - Desire to demonstrate the infinite richness of literature and its function as a transmitter of values. - Commitment to continuously monitoring the results of academic and methodological research and to incorporating them adequately into the educational process.
- Course content
- Topics: planning the process of literary education and Hungarian literature lessons. Didactic tasks in Hungarian literature lessons. Planning, conducting and evaluating brief teaching sessions. Analog and digital tools in literary education. The relationship between literary education and other fields of education. Extra-curricular forms of literary education. Preparation for the school-leaving examination.
