Description
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: The student will be familiar with the main methods of analysing German sentences. He/she is aware of the structural differences between context embedded and context isolated sentences, and of the syntactic features of spoken and written language. He/she knows the categories of German sentence structure and the most important categories for comparing German and Hungarian sentence structures. The student is familiar with the basics, terminology and methods of text linguistics, the text-level characteristics of the synchronic language state, the classification of text types in German. Skills: The student is able to construct grammatically correct and appropriate sentence structures in complex situations, to review and analyse complex sentence structures and to teach. He / she can recognise and correctly assess sentence construction errors. He/she can produce texts in oral and written situations and teach text production. He / she can use features of the text type creatively. He / she is able to consciously avoid syntactical errors due to interference when translating from German into Hungarian or from Hungarian into German. Attitude: The student has realistic conception about the role of grammar. He / she sees grammar as a tool for successful communication and can pass this approach on to his / her students. He/she neither adopts a rigid grammatical approach nor an attitude that neglects linguistic correctness and focuses only on content. He / she knows that different learners and target groups require different approaches to grammar teaching. Autonomy and responsibility: The student is aware that language, including syntax, is a constantly and dynamically changing system. He/she is aware that the creation of new communicative situations and text types implies a constant change of the grammatical system. He /she is able to monitor changes in language independently and to take them into account autonomously in his/her own work. The student applies and develops his/her knowledge of the subject area, text comprehension and text creation skills in his/her self-learning and self-awareness.
