- The aim of the course is to enable students to use traditional and digital language learning resources, tools and mobile applications appropriate to their language level in their future work, and to take advantage of language learning opportunities outside the classroom. The thematic focus of the course will be on vocabulary units, lexical change (neologisms, archaisms, borrowing) and meaning change, lexical semantics: word meaning, meaning concepts, meaning components, meaning relations in vocabulary. The course also aims to familiarise students with the linguistic tools that can be used in language learning, complemented by other methods and materials (e.g., parallel texts and the possibilities of using monolingual and bilingual corpora) that support language learning. In addition to printed dictionaries, a strong emphasis is placed on language tools available online. Knowledge. Awareness of the role and potential of German as a subject in the personal development of learners. Ability: to select, plan and apply appropriate methods for the learning and development of learners with different aptitudes, abilities, and prior knowledge, and to assist in career guidance. Attitude: Open to the continuous learning of a variety of methods of personal development. Responsible attitude towards the personal development of pupils, ability to see the values in everyone and to relate to all pupils with positive emotions. Autonomy. Ability to find, interpret, use, and communicate professional information sources. Responsibility: Open to experimenting with development and innovation (testing and criticising alternative programmes and textbooks).
- Course content
- Lexicology deals with vocabulary, word formation and words as grammatical units with meaning. It is therefore a great aid to language teaching, both for the language teacher and the student, as groups of words are easier to learn and teach than a list of unrelated words. In the course, students acquire basic knowledge of the types of dictionaries and other handbooks (printed or in electronic form), the way they help in the use of language. Students can gain insight into the language support of word processing software, as well as obtaining knowledge about grammar, vocabulary, collocations etc. with the help of electronic corpora and the Internet.
