Competencies: Knowledge The course gives a good overview of the area of chemical materials; the precursors, various synthesis techniques of inorganic and polymer systems. Ability Ability to propose and conduct a project, to take part in research works and investigations in the field of material sciences. Able to find out materials with novel structures and properties. Attitude Able to work accurately and reliably regarding both field the physics and chemistry. Autonomy and responsibility Respects the ethical and scientific requirements.
Course content
Synthesis of precursors: organic, inorganic, and metalorganic initial materials (special gases; metals, alloys; covalent and ionic hybrids; metal halogenides, oxides, sulphides; metal alkoxides, carboxylates, metal amides, imides, metal complexes; ceramic precursors). New synthesis methods for amorphous systems, sol-gel technique (chemical processes of sol-gel method, drying and heat treatment techniques of gel systems, its applicability in the procedure of powders, layers, fibers, and monoliths). Polymer gels, chemical and structural modifying methods (general chemical and physical properties of polymers, polymer gels, macromolecular structures and their syntheses, functional polymers, their applicability, polymer nanostuctures, nanotemplates, nanohybrids); Non-conventional materials and their properties (application s in the fields of medical, biomedical and robotic technology, synthetic human materials (synthetic muscle and others body organs; drug delivery systems).
Assessment method
