- The aim of the course is to give an overview for the students on the air pollution processes, emission and air quality trends, the transport modeling of air pollutants, international treaties and conventions for the protection of clean air. In addition, students should understand rne local and global scale processes that cause modification in the air composition. a) knowledge Students know the process of air pollution, the potential air pollutants. Students know the data sources for emission and concentration trends. Students know the possibilities of modelling transmission processes. Students know the environmental burden of urban areas, the determining factors of urban smog. Students know processes and trends associated to the global composition of air. Students know international treaties and conventions related to the clean air protection. b) ability Students are able to evaluate air quality information. Students are able to collect information independently on the environmental impacts that modify air composition. Students are to identify specialised professional problems through a multi-faceted, interdisciplinary approach, and to explore and formulate the theoretical and practical background necessary to solve them. c) attitude Students strive to understand the curriculum, they use interactive resources to elaborate the individual parts. Students have a motivation to explore new, previously less known or even unknown scientific topics. Students strive to apply complex approach. Students strive to solve tasks received during the semester either individually or in small students groups. Students strive to continuously develop their knowledge. d) autonomy and responsibility Students continuously follow the lectures. Students download and go through the electronic supporting material. Students actively participate in practices, solving individual or small group tasks. Students provide assistance to follow students when necessary. Students watch video material, solve homework assignments to be submitted online, take or make up for a voting-based test, write essays as required. Students can extend the knowledge acquired and use it in their future studies and work. Students are able to express their professional opinion independently in decision-making situations and take responsibility for their environmental and social impact.
