- Students should learn about basic environmental technology processes. They should be able to understand and think further about the current tasks and opportunities of drinking water treatment, wastewater treatment, sewage sludge treatment, flue gas treatment, soil remediation, and waste management. They will gain practical knowledge by completing laboratory exercises, with the data they will use to make recommendations for evaluating the efficiency of a given environmental technology process. By completing calculation tasks, basic engineering skills (autonomy, precision, responsibility) will be developed
- Course content
- Overview of the basic types of environmental protection technologies. Fundamentals of soil and water chemistry. Drinking water treatment technologies. Wastewater treatment technologies, sewage sludge treatment technologies. Soil pollution remediation and damage prevention technologies. Air pollution reduction technologies. Solid waste treatment technologies: composting, biogas production. Performing basic physical and chemical soil, water, and compost tests during laboratory exercises. Performing environmental technology calculation tasks.
- Assessment method
- Practical course mark, which can be obtained from mid-year assessments, laboratory reports and calculation tasks.
