Purpose of education (competencies): Knowledge: o knows the concept and elements of the map coordinate reference systems Capacities: o Ability to geo-refer maps to a known coordinate system o Ability to orto-rectify airphotos Attitude: o Inquires independently based on what is taught in class. o Committed to learning new competences. Autonomy and responsibility: o Ability to think through basic professional issues independently. o Ability to apply acquired knowledge in practice.
Course content
Content of education: Ellipsoidal approximation of the shape of the Earth. Geodetic positioning, geodetic coordinate systems and frame networks. Parameterisation of geodetic datums, methods of parameterisation and their application in a GIS environment. Types of map projections, their parameters, their application in a GIS environment: horizontal reference systems. Estimation of projection parameters for maps in unknown projections. Horizontal georeferencing of maps. Height concepts, height measurement in geodetic practice. Digital elevation models, their production and characteristics. Orthorectification of aerial photographs, production of digital anaglyph images, georeferencing of photographed maps.
