- Practicing the main methods, concepts and terminology of literary and cultural studies in English. Familiarising the students with the most important current schools of literary and cultural theory as well as analysis. Familarising students with the characteristic features and main types of literary kinds and genres; using important literary works as examples. Essay writing and argumentation. (A) Knowledge · Have a general and programme-specific theoretical and practical knowledge related to literature as well as literary and cultural studies. · Know the academic terminology of literary criticism and cultural studies. · Know the literary and cultural theories related to gender, culture, language and history. · Their theoretical and practical knowledge is systematic. · Know the literary eras. (B) Skills · Able to use the literary terminology in practice. · Able to analyse literary and cultural works. · Able to use the literary and cultural theories in practice. · Skills of argumentation and critical thought · Essay writing. (C) Attitudes · Open to new achievements and innovations in the field of literary criticism, and take efforts to be acquainted with, understand and use them. · Aim for continuous self-education. · Accept the theories of gender, culture and history. · Open to literary genres. (D) Autonomy and responsibility · Work autonomously under continuous self-monitoring. · Take responsibility for their own work in the field of literary criticism. · Have a sense of responsibility.

- The seminars have a practical orientation. The classes have no standard curriculum. Their primary aim is to analyse specific works. However, coordinated with the lecture course, the seminars are expected cover the following areas: · Literary Research. Genres. · Drama As a Multimedia Form of Art. · Drama. The Changing Historical Context of Theatre. · Narrative Fiction. Story, Plot, Narrative Voice. · Narrative Fiction. Genres and History of the Form. · Literary and Cultural Theories related to History: Period Study. Literary History. Literatures in English. Postcolonial Studies. · Literary and Cultural Theories related to Language and Form · Literary and Cultural Theories related to Psychology · Literary and Cultural Theories related to Gender. · Writing about Literature. From Informal to Professional.

- There is no standard grading protocol. The end-term grades are usually the cumulative result of the seminar paper(s), presentation(s), in-class test(s) and regular work of the students.
