- Learning outcomes
- This course aims at getting students ready to appreciate the core phonology course (BBN-ANG-241/242), by introducing the basic ingredients of phonetics, phonology, English orthography, and English accents.
- Course content
- The articulatory properties of vowels and consonants, the phoneme inventory of current British English, vowels before R, regularities of English spelling, word and sentence stress, intonation, phonotactics, some other accents of English.

- Written examination by multiple choice questions.
