Learning outcomes
The course offers a glimpse of the main concerns of linguistics, and the most general issues in (the study of) language.
Course content
The seminars look at sounds, words, phrases/sentences, meaning, pragmatics, variation and language history. They are also meant to dispel some misconceptions about language & linguistics.
Assessment method
Three in-class tests count towards the end-term grade. Regular attendance is required.
