- Oktatás célja
- The aim of this course is to introduce students to The Theatre of the Absurd. The course equips students with the basic skills to approach the fundamental transformations and complex phenomena in the theatre of the period. It explores generic innovations in drama and changes of world-view. Along with analysing and discussing the selected works of these diverse representatives of the absurd, it also seeks to enable students to master difficult texts on their own and acquire the basics of critical thinking and writing.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- About half of the seminars are devoted to the open discussion of literary texts that the students have to read in advance. We debate various possible interpretations in the course of which we focus on what makes one interpretation more plausible than an other. In these discussions we resort to pertaining questions of philosophy as well as literary history and theory.
