- To deepen students’ understanding of the key themes Anglo-Irish relations through assessing the use of humour in cartoons To familiarise students with the interdisciplinary approaches in humour studies and equip them with the skills and knowledge to conduct and present historical research
- Tantárgy tartalma
- This course explores Anglo-Irish relations focusing on a historical and cultural analysis of political cartoons, covering the period between the 1798 United Irishmen Rising and the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. We will analyse the unique value of cartoons as historical evidence, highlighting what they reveal about the prejudices of cartoonists, their target audiences, as well as the complexity of their historical contexts.

- Grades will be based on: class work (attendance, weekly readings and contributing to class discussions) brief weekly assignments and in-class test (oral resit)
