- Oktatás célja
- We intend to introduce both iconic places, spaces and non-spaces of contemporary London and economic-societal changes and issues including growing financial, social and housing gaps, gender and racial tensions, minorities and subcultures through contrasting academic literature and filmic depictions.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- Reading and discussing academic literature on culture and society plus theory of filmic representation to serve as theoretical background to analysing contemporary British feature films, which should be watched at home in advance. Only some film sequences will be revisited and discussed in class.
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- Your final grade will be based on 4 grades: a) regular attandance and participation in discussions (20%), b) 2 short presentations (max. 10-15 minutes for both): one on academic literature and one on a film to be selected during the first class (20%), c) a midterm quiz on Moodle (20%) and d) an end-of-term-test on the course material you need to pass to qualify for a grade, there is only one retake option (40%)
