- Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 is about making “cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.” It is one of the 17 SDGs in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Sustainability is a growing concern for all of us, thus raising awareness, educating people of the problem points and possible best practices is important. The film industry might do a lot in supporting SDGs to reduce social and gender inequality, water shortage or combat other extreme climate events, making students aware of these issues by the help of films might enable future teachers and scholars to cope with these problems.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The seminar will discuss scenes and sequences of British films (to be watched at home in advance) where the representation of sustainable towns and communities might help educate students and society and raise awareness of SDGs. Topics to be addressed will include the filmic representation and discussion of the 12 (of the 17) most important SDGs including sustainable cities, no poverty, good health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, gender equality, clean energy, decent work and economic growth, responsible production and consumption, reduced inequalities, peace, justice and strong institutions. The film list to be studied will be attached to the detailed syllabus.

- Evaluation: your seminar grade will be based on a 10-15 minute in-class presentation (20%), to a creative task (20%) and an end-of term test (40%) and your active participation in class discussions (20%).
