- We intend to watch and compare important scenes and sequences from various British heritage films and discuss them in their historical and cultural context.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- We intend to examine the various forms of representation of the English/British landscape, history, culture and institutions in their historical and cultural context and examine their historical accuracy (in the context of their contemporary history records) plus their modern/postmodern filmic adaptations. The films will be selected from a suggested list of films and series covering British history chronologically during the first class on Week 1, when we shall watch and discuss parts of the series on the Wars of the Roses The White Queen (2013, BBC).
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- Regular attendance. You can miss 3 classes, if you still miss 4 classes (with your supervisor’s previous permission), you need to write an extra comparative film review on 2 films discussed during the course. However, you cannot miss more than 4 classes. Your mark/grade will be based on your regular attendance, contribution to the discussion, a 10-15 minute PPT presentation and on the result of 2 test papers (mid-ter and an end-of-term test covering the whole course material).
