- Oktatás célja
- By reading and discussing relevant publications, the course aims to promote critical thinking and appraisal as well as the ability to understand and synthesise sources in the applied linguistics literature.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- Theories and ideas are not generated in a vacuum. They are, rather, developed as a response to established ways of thinking by challenging what has been often taken for granted in a particular field of inquiry. The course presents issues on which applied linguists have had differing opinions, such as the relevance of applied linguistic research, the notion of the native speaker or language testing in the era of the dominant use of English as a lingua franca. Participants will also discuss popular myths and fallacies that have prevailed, especially in the study of Individual Differences.
