- The aim of this course is to explore the idea of English identity and through it, the very concept of national identity.
- Course content
- Using our own collective experience of Englishness as well as various media artifacts old and new, and keeping an eye on current events, we will examine the idea of Englishness through a number of agreed topics. Every week students will have responsibility for researching and sharing the content to be used for that particular week.
- Assessment method
- There will be at least one paper to write and one or two short presentations to give. Your final grade will be assessed on the basis of attendance, class activities and marked assignments using evaluation criteria which we will agree on at the beginning of the course. Recommended readings/listenings will include chapters from books, articles, web pages, videos and podcasts to be specified as the course progresses.
