- Learning outcomes
- To arouse students’ interest in the genres of folktales, the methods of storytelling research and the scientific study of folk and fairy tales in general. During the semester, the students will have the opportunity to gain insight into the history of scientific fairy tale research and to review the genres of Hungarian folk tales and to analyse their formal and aesthetic characteristics. In addition to the traditional forms of storytelling and the characteristics of oral narration, we will also examine the modern, audiovisual forms of storytelling. During the course, the use of Hungarian and international folktale catalogues and the results of the ’performer-centered school’ (also known as ’Budapest school’) will be explored in detail through practical exercises.
- Course content
