- The aim of the course is to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of Hungarian and European folklore/religion through joint and independent activities.
- Course content
- The structure of the course: The seminar consists of four main parts. 1. These constitute the basic compulsory literature of the course, which must be read from class to class and on which the students will write a final report in class 5. 2 This is followed by the presentation of student seminar research plans (hours 6-7). 3. presentation of a selected work (PPT, handout and quiz) based on given criteria in the form of a short presentation (15-20 minutes) in the second half of the semester, from 7-8th class, which will be jointly evaluated in the attendance class. For each work presented, the presenter will prepare a quiz to be filled in by fellow students after the presentation. * 4. after the completion of the seminar papers (!), presentation of the research results in a 20-minute ppt presentation in class 12-13. + If you have taken the class to prove your foreign language proficiency, you will give a lecture on a monograph in a foreign language of your choice and write a one-page report on it in the source language (instead of the monograph in Hungarian.)
- Assessment method
- The course consists of the following: - A maximum of three absences from the seminar. - During the first half of the semester, the student will read the papers week by week and work on them independently at home, ask relevant questions in the Canvas forum and answer at least one question from a fellow student. On the 5th class (17 March), the reading seminar will end with a final exam. - Each student will present his/her seminar research plan in class 6-7 of the semester. * - This will be followed by a presentation of a monograph with a projected presentation (hours 7-11, hand-out, with a pre-prepared quiz according to the requirements, and team completion of the quiz in class immediately after the presentation, and then immediately afterwards, evaluation of the quiz. (The quiz should be online interface - kahoot.it, but copy and paste it at the end of the ppt. Please upload the ppt file - along with the quiz - to the appropriate Canvas module.) - Prepare a seminar paper (based on the Institute's formatting and content requirements). * (Please upload the seminar paper to the appropriate module in Canvas by the last class of the semester.) - Hours 12-13: presentation of your own research results, summary of the semester (in a Ppt file, which please upload to the appropriate module of Canvas).
