- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to help primarily those MA English Studies students who choose to specialise in English Applied Linguistics to complete their course requirements (in the form of academic papers and presentations) in the content courses offered on the track and ultimately assist them in writing their thesis on an applied linguistics topic. This is a skills-based course which, in order to meet the aims above, will focus on skills such as how to avoid plagiarism (e.g., how to paraphrase, summarise, and cite sources according to APA guidelines), how to write papers in compliance with the stylistic requirements of academic writing, or how to compile a literature review.
- Course content
- The course will focus on the following content areas: punctuation, paraphrasing, summarising, APA referencing, argumentation, research questions, writing a literature review, the style of academic writing, and the writer’s voice. The course addresses AI-related knowledge and skills relevant to the course content.
- Assessment method
- Successful completion of the course will entail writing a literature review, giving in-class presentations, taking a short APA test, and active participation in the seminar discussions.

- Various articles and book chapters will be provided by the tutor.
