- Pre-Raphaelite art (painting, literature, applied arts) had a great importance in the Victorian period, and has been an inspiration to English and Europen culture ever since. The aim of the course is to give an insight into Pre-Raphaelitism, as well as into the mentality and the ever changing society of England in the Victorian period. The course is designed to enhance students’ understanding of the possibilities inherent in the comparative studies of different branches of art.
- Tantárgy tartalma
- The presentation of the history of Pre-Raphaelitism and its relations to Hungary. The study of the Pre-Raphaelites’ changing theory of art - from their early claim for maral teaching and realism to late Victorian aestheticism - and their role in the birth of applied art.
- Számonkérés és értékelés
- In-class test (based on the material of the classes). Essay on any topic related to the material of the course. Evaluation: contribution to discussions, in-class test, essay.
