- The subject of the course: the historical overview of the morphology of the Russian language. During the synchronous examination of the grammatical categories of nouns, we direct the students' attention to the formal "remains" of the disappeared categories, i.e. today's non-standard phenomena, various adverbialization processes and the mechanisms of "passability" between traditional language levels, in addition to the logic of the new categories created, and the we also interpret changes in the functioning of Church Slavonic forms. We interpret the paradigms of today's system along the horizontal unification and vertical differentiation of Proto-Slavic noun declension types. In the area of the verb, we analyze the unity of the formal simplification of the past tense(s) and the formation of the present-day Russian vid category. The creation of the noun and the adverbial participle as a new class is also explained from the point of view of syntax. The theory is supplemented by the reading of Church Slavonic texts edited in Old Russian and East Slavic, during which we distinguish between phenomena based on the spoken language on the one hand, i.e. centered on the communicative situation, and phenomena organized along formal logical schemes on the other.

- Assessment method
- The semester ends with an independent text analysis based on a fragment of an original Old Slavic language memory in the form of a homework assignment.
