Tantárgy tartalma
The students will be presented the psychological thinking, the object of psychology, its theories and methods, the connection among different scientific fields and the origin of human variability. The course will focus on specific characteristics of different ages as well as on the study of the origin of human variability. Within cognitive development we review Piaget’s approach, and its alternatives following the 1980s. We introduce concepts such as domain-general, and domain-specific knowledge, the competence-performance distinction, innateness, critical periods, modularization, core cognition, implicit and explicit cognition, and underlying all these, the notion of mental representation. We discuss different general approaches to development including stage theories, the role of innateness and learning – including cultural learning –, and the bio-psycho-social model. In addition to the development of perception and attention, an emphasis is placed on conceptual development within which we discuss certain areas in more detail – such example areas in the course have included numerical cognition, and theory of mind development. Related to these, approaches to language acquisition are also discussed including learning theories, the nativist view, cognitive-interactionist approaches, and neo-constructivism. We are presenting the role of games, drawing and tales in the development, we are talking about the types of games, the drawing’s phases, the relation between tales and the digital world. After introducing you in the development of cognitive functions we are presenting in details the emotional aspect of development, we clarify the terms of emotion and motivation, the relation between them, we present the components, the functions, the development and the regulation of emotions, as well as the emotional intelligence. We talk about the attachment, its phases and classifications, about the temperament, moral development and aggression. In the frame of personality development, we talk about the meaning of the term of personality, the different methods used to evaluate the personality, the different theory of personality development, the development of self and identity.
