Oktatás célja
The aim of the course is to give a comprehensive introduction to those fundamental digital technologies and the related concepts which are essential to present-day special needs education practice. Besides a systematic overview of the relevant digital technologies and user-level IT knowledge, we present the potential ways of using these technologies in pedagogy in special needs education. We establish the also competencies which are necessary for preparing supplementary materials for teaching. As a broader focus, we present the possibilities of using digital technologies beyond teaching in special needs education, on an introductory level. The emphasis is put on the assistive, diagnostic, and research-oriented use of these technologies. In order to establish further knowledge and competencies for professional work in practice, we present the legal, ethical and security-related knowledge and possibilities, as well as the risks and hazards of using digital technologies, as a self-containing topic. Learning outcomes and competences:  Knowledge: on the importance, potential benefits, and risks of using digital technologies for assistive and educational purposes. on the categories of technologies and the related concepts which belong essentially to the up-to-date practice and research in special needs education. on the main fields and fundamental principles of applying these technologies, including those related specifically to special needs education, as well as those, more broadly, related to human-technology interaction, and with a special focus on ethical and security principles. Skills: ability to move around within the domain of digital technologies (both hardware and software) relevant for special needs education. ability to recognise the key aspects (professional, technological, ethical, and safety) of applying these technologies, not-yet specifically for disability groups. on the basis of the above knowledge and skills, the ability to identify relevant professional literature and broaden their knowledge on the utilisation of digital tools in special needs education, both comprehensively and specifically to disability groups. Attitudes: commitment to evidence-based practices, human rights, and ethical principles in applying digital technologies for assistive and educational purposes. understanding of the potentials in the future development of the fields, and a commitment to continuous professional development. an internalised understanding of maximising the life quality, autonomy, and developmental perspectives of the disables individuals as the fundamental motive of utilising digital technologies in their support and education, with an exquisite respect for their human rights and dignity. Autonomy and responsibility: Is committed to learning and performs learning-related tasks independently. Takes responsibility for their own learning, development, and achievement.

An introduction to the application of the digital technologies (fundamental knowledge and tools) in a special needs education context. Kinds and categories of digital and info-communication technologies. Assistive technologies. Education technologies in special needs education. Digital tools in knowledge assessment; pedagogical and diagnostic tools in special needs education. Research possibilities and research approaches in using digital technologies in special needs education. Basic ethical, legal, and security-related knowledge in relation to applying digital technologies and using the Internet. Fundamental psychological issues about using digital assistive technologies.

A colloquium, in the form of a multiple-choice on-line test. Evaluation: 0-49% failed, 50-59% satisfactory, 60-69% medium, 70-84% good, 85-100% excellent.
