Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop a rich research-methodological culture based on scientific basis, to familiarize the research strategies and to develop competencies necessary for the design of an individual research. Learning outcomes and competences Knowledge: To be familiar with the scientific results of the field and its research-specific features. To know the qualitative and quantitative research methods typical of the field. To now the steps of the research process. Attitude: While understanding the processes, a critical thinking and pursuit of analysis is typical. Being unbiased, having social sensitivity and a need to reconcile individual, organizational and social interests. Committed to quality work. Skills: To be capable of effective written and oral communication, presenting the results of their work, and defending them in the debate. To be able to produce an independent, professional scientific analysis on their own field.
Course content
Main content and thematic units Everyday and academic cognition. Scientific research as a methodological process. Principles and characteristics of the quantitative and qualitative research methodology. The basic issues of research work. Types and main features of research strategies and methods. Conception and design of the research. Planned learning activities and teaching methods Seminar
Assessment method
Method of evaluation:  term mark Aspects of evaluation: The task to be done at and beyond the seminar: each student(pair) prepares for a chosen topic (see below) as follows, within a maximum of 60 minutes: Creating questions, showing a video on the topic. Purpose: to raise awareness of the subject, triggering the activity, and practice critical thinking (10 minutes); providing an insight into the application possibilities of the method using ICT and/or sensitizing tools (30 minutes). Purpose: getting realistic acquainted with and trying of the learning by model-providing and the practice; briefly introducing the main features of the method based on the theory (10 minutes). Purpose: to know the theoretical backgrounds based on the literature; Formulating some questions about the advantages and disadvantages of the methods described. Purpose: summarizing, in addition checking the knowledge transferred. (10 minutes)
