- Learning outcomes
- The aim of the course is to provide students a comprehensive picture of the paradigm of lifelong learning and lifelong guidance paradigm, based on national and international trends in the field. The course tries to offer insight into the European Union's lifelong learning and career guidance policy, for the students to become familiar with its main strategic documents and guidelines. At the end of the course the students will Be able to interpret adult learning, to highlight the specifics of adult learning, to recognize the different training needs arising from different stages of life. As a result they will be familiar with the LLL and LLG programs of international organizations (OECD, UNESCO, Council of Europe). Results and acquired competencies Knowledge: Students know the main connections between LLL (lifelong learning) and LLG (career counseling). Students get to know the development of the paradigm and key concepts of lifelong learning, main areas of research, and the European Union’s territorial policy, the main strategic documents and directives. Students are familiar with the general and specific andragogical characteristics that underpin counseling and career planning activities. Abilities: Students are able to interpret adult learning, and identify formal, non-formal and informal learning pathways. Students are able to identify the characteristics and motivations of adult learning through their own learning biographies. Students are able to identify levels of lifelong counseling, see their own role and competence boundaries in the process. Students are able to make an independent, scientific summary analysis in the areas discussed in the course. Attitude: Students are able to critically interpret Hungarian and EU documents and strategies dealing with career counseling and lifelong learning. Students are characterized by critical thinking and striving for analysis Students are committed to quality work. Autonomy, responsibility: Students are characterized by a lifelong learning approach. Students feel responsible in teamwork for teammates, and are able to collaborate.
- Course content
- Major topics: The paradigm, key concepts and interpretations of lifelong learning (LLL) Basic documents related to the lifelong learning approach Strategies and guidelines of the European Union in the context of lifelong learning Interpretation of adult learning. Caracteristics of adult learning. Non-formal learning situations, workplace learning Informal learning situations Indicators of lifelong learning, main areas and directions of research Interpretation of lifelong guidance Career construction competencies and opportunities for their development Career guidance and career counseling in school
- Assessment method
- The evaluation is carried out on a continuous basis. The students should participate in small group research activities during the semester, from which they jointly produce research reports and a scientific posters. As an individual task, the student writes a learning biography based on pre-defined criteria. Students take a written exam from the material of the lectures during the exam period. The grade will be determined based on the fulfillment of the three types of requirements. The evaluation has five levels.
