Learning outcomes

The aim of the course  To develop and deepen students' language skills and foreign language communication skills by building vocabulary, acquiring language turns and grammatical rules necessary for basic communication. Expansion of the conversational vocabulary used in the most common communication situations. Developing language learning strategies for independent learning.

Course content

Content: Hungarian alphabet Greetings, starting a conversation, asking for directions Introducing yourself (name, age, nationality, occupation, address, marital status, family, favourite free time activities) Numbers, colours, basic nouns, verbs and adjectives Speaking about languages and language learning (countries, nationalities, languages) Days, months, dates, seasons, weather Jobs, workplaces Cultural background: history, customs, traditions, famous Hungarian people, buildings, transport system

Assessment method

Requirements Prepare homework, watch assigned videos Study vocabulary Give a short PPT presentation related to Hungary (in English) and teach 6-8 Hungarian vocabulary items Active class participation (attend at least 6 lessons and an outing OR at least 8 lessons) MID presentation ideas Give a short presentation (3-5 minutes, 3-5 slides) on a topic related to Hungary. Teach 6-8 vocabulary items to your group mates. Geography, history, literature, arts, music, architecture, inventions, gastronomy, pop culture etc. Assessment is based on Class participation – 70% Presentation – 30%
