- Learning outcomes
- The course aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of fundamental colloid chemistry concepts, phenomena, and their crucial role in materials science. This knowledge will enable them to interpret and analyze colloidal processes appearing in various fields (e.g., catalysts, drug delivery applications, thin films) and to propose solutions for influencing these processes. Through the acquired skills and attitude, students will be able to approach colloid chemistry problems critically and responsibly, while also becoming capable of independently processing scientific literature and applying their knowledge.
- Course content
- Interfacial phenomena, surface tension and its consequences. Adsorption, wetting phenomena, electrokinetic processes. Properties of association, macromolecular and dispersion colloids. Preparation of colloidal systems and their stability. Optical, rheological properties of colloids.
- Assessment method
- Oral exam
