- Language
- Learning outcomes
- a) Knowledge - is familiar with the basic methods of nuclear measurement technology, - knows the properties of radioactivity and ionizing radiation, - knows the interactions between radiation and matter. b) Abilities - learn the basics of using nuclear measuring equipment, - learn the basics of the work schedule of nuclear laboratories, - is able to work under supervision in a laboratory using ionizing radiation. c) Attitude - works taking into account the effects of radiation. d) Autonomy and responsibility - be able to plan and carry out his work in a laboratory using ionizing radiation, - has an idea of the applicability of radioactive measurement techniques.
- Course content
- Students supposed to learn basic techniques of nuclear measurements. They get acquainted with laboratory work applying radiation or „open” radioactive sources. They get impressions on the possibilities of nuclear analytical methods. The laboratory practice involves Mössbauer spectroscopy, neutron activation analysis, work with radioactive chemicals, X-ray absorption and emission techniques, scattering methods.
- Assessment method
- Practical mark. Short tests to check preliminary preparation, lab reports, final test at the end of semester.
- Bibliography
- Short syllabi for each measurement containing necessary knowledge and the instructions for the measurement.
