- a) knowledge - Possess of chemical structural kowledges to understand the behaviours of complex and composite chemical compounds and materials. b) ability - Have a know-how to predict, design and develop new kind of materia with new properties. c) attitude - Open for discussions with chemists and other trade partners. d) autonomy and responsibility - Ability to overview professional problems and make reports about them for the chief to make decisions.
- Course content
- Overview of metal complexes based on the VB and MO theories. Introduction into ligand field theory and Jahn-Teller effect by examples. Electron transfer reaction types and their theoretical interpretation. Multiple bonded metal-metal complexes and metal clusters. Structure and reactivity of borane clusters. Structural differences in metals, intermetallic compounds, semiconductors and superconductors. The structure of polioxo-metallates and metal organic frameworks (MOFs). Supramolecular chemistry. Chemistry in non-aqueus media.
- Assessment method
- Written and oral exam with five-grade scale.
