- Learning outcomes
- This is a Content-Based Language Development course. The aim of the course is to focus on cultural perspectives and practices within various societies in the 21st century. Developments within Hungary, Europe and the wider world will be of relevance but some emphasis will be placed on relating issues to English speaking cultures.
- Course content
- Participants will be required to research, prepare and present topics on contemporary cultural issues of their own choice that lead to group discussion and debate, and also submit two feedback papers based on this work. All members of the group will be encouraged to participate fully and play an active role in all classes. The course will demand integration of all language skills but effective communication within classes will be of primary concern.
- Assessment method
- Evaluation and final grades will be based on: i) attendance ii) preparation for and participation in all class activities iii) language skills iv) presentations and handouts v) written feedback.
- Bibliography
- There are no set texts but participants will be expected to follow current affairs closely through the media. Preparatory tasks and readings will be provided prior to each session.
