- This course offers an in-depth insight into the theories and practices of various poetic trends in the first half of the 20th century. A selection from the most prominent English and American authors from the period gives the students an opportunity to develop their close reading strategies as well as gain knowledge from and about relevant theoretical texts.

- Selected poems and theoretical works from the field of Modernist poetry in English.

- Students are expected to read the home assignment in advance and to participate in classroom discussions. End-of-term marks will be based on classroom activities, a presentation on one of the texts from the reading list (about 15 minutes) and an end-term in-class paper.
