- The course aims to offer an accessible introduction to contemporary critical theory through the discussion of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby (1925), which we shall read from various critical perspectives
- Course content
- The course provides in-depth coverage of the most common approaches to literary analysis today, including: close-reading, psychoanalysis; reader-response theory; New Criticism; structuralism; deconstruction; new historicism and cultural criticism; gender studies, Marxism and postcolonial criticism.
