- Course title: Social Psychology 2. Course code: PSYB19-125 Head of the course: Anna Kende General data Date and place of the course: Monday, 10.15-11.45, room P3 Name of the lecturer: Anna Kende Department of the lecturer: Department of Social Psychology Email of the lecturer: kende.anna@ppk.elte.hu Aim of the course The course continues to present the basic principles of social psychology by discussing topics related to social behavior on (1) an interpersonal level, such as intimate relationships, helping, and aggression; (2) group level processes, such as group formation and dynamics, decision-making in groups and questions of leadership. Finally, the course discusses social psychological questions about (3) intergroup relations, intergroup conflict and conflict resolution. The topics are introduced by offering an overview of social psychological research in these particular interpersonal, group level and intergroup topics, discussing classical theories as well as the newest developments in the field. Broader societal implications and applied aspects of the topics are discussed. During the practical classes the topics of the lectures are covered in a practical manner with opportunities for gaining first hand personal experiences, allowing students to become more familiar with the topics of the lectures. Course requirements For the completion of the course, you are required to take a written exam at the end of the semester during the exam period. The general university rules and regulations apply for taking the exam. The final exam consists of multiple choice test of 25 questions (25 minutes) based on the textbook and the lecture notes. The course consists of two parts: 1) lecture and 2) seminar (or ’practical’ part). The final grade is determined by the total score achieved at the seminar (40%) plus at the exam (60%) testing your knowledge of the material covered in the lectures. However, to pass the course, students need to pass both parts (achieve at least half of the available points for each part). To be eligible to take the exam, students need to already have a passing score for the seminar part. If students pass the seminar, but not the exam (even after a possible retake at the end of the exam period), they can submit a request in the next semester to carry over their seminar score and take the exam only.
