- The aim of this course is to provide an insight into mindfulness-based interventions, in particular mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), and their potential to improve health, based on the current literature evidence. Learning outcome, competences Knowledge: getting familiar with the theory and some practical elements of mindfulness-based interventions acquiring knowledge about the applicability of MBSR and MBCT interventions in improving health along empirically based evidence Attitude: empathetic, open, curious attitude commitment to practicing on a regular basis critical appraisal of the evidence Skills: topic-specific, empirically-based theoretical knowledge acquisition application of a critical approach ability to integrate theoretical and practical aspects continuous development of self-reflection skills through practice and learning Autonomy/ responsibility: Applying the knowledge and skills acquired in a professionally appropriate way, in line with the student's competence.

- Topics covered Theory oriented units: Theoretical and scientific background of mindfulness-based interventions Understanding the structure and elements of mindfulness-based interventions (MBSR, MBCT, etc.) The applicability of mindfulness-based interventions in promoting health and well-being Practice-based units: Experience-based practice of the mindfulness-based intervention components Self-reflections on the experience of practicing mindfulness Learning activities, learning methods experiental exercises presentations the expansion of theoretical knowledge and the joint discussion of personal practice experiences

- Learning requirements, mode of evaluation, criteria of evaluation Requirements: • Continuous participation in the course (max. 3 absences) • active participation during class • Dedicated practice in class and at home • Preparing self-reflective diaries • Preparation of presentation material mode of evaluation: Term mark (1-5 grades) criteria of evaluation: knowledge of and critical analysis of the evidence on the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions and their integration with practical aspects conscientiously carrying out and reporting on practical tasks
