- Competencies: Knowledge: Understands the advanced concepts of molecular biology. Understands and applies the terminology required for understanding the molecular biology of living organisms. Understands the molecular processes and regulations of proteins. Understands the importance of interdisciplinarity. Understands the relationships between the different kinds of disciplinal knowledge. Ability: Able to recognize and coherently interpret the features of the molecular biology of living organisms at an advanced level. Able to apply the advanced terminology of the molecular biology of living organisms. Able to present her/his results on advanced level both in oral and written form. Able to recognize and integrate the interrelation of different scientific disciplines. Able to organize data and knowledge based from scientific aspect, able to analyze and interpret. - Course content
- The aim of the course is to introduce and discuss the advanced topics of protein science. Main topics of the course: Levels, dynamics and determination of protein structure; Chemical modification of proteins; The phenomenon of fluorescence and its use in protein science; Investigation of protein interactions; Proteomics; High-throughput methods for protein analysis; Functional logic of protein networks; Enzyme kinetic mechanistic studies; Protein evolution; Proteins as drug targets.
