Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce and discuss the advanced topics of immunopathology. Main topics of the course: Introduction to immunopathology; Tolerance, autoimmunity; Autoimmunity, development of autoimmune diseases; Classification, characteristics, therapeutic targets of autoimmune diseases; Transplantation; The role of dendritic cells, macrophages, granulocytes in pathological immune processes; The role of the complement system in the development of pathological processes; Types of hypersensitivity reactions; Allergic (immediate, type I) reaction; Tumor formation, anti-tumor immune mechanisms; Formation of immune complexes (ICs), pathological processes caused by ICs; Inherited immunodeficiency conditions; Acquired immunodeficiency conditions; Immunomodulation, immunosuppression.
Assessment method
k5 = exam mark (5) (1 failed, 5 excellent) Preparation for the exam from the class material and the given textbooks. The evaluation is based on an assessment of students’ knowledge based on individual performance. The oral exam is based on the topics of the lecture.
