Course content
The aim of the course is to introduce and discuss the advanced topics of the molecular biology of plants and fungi. Main topics of the course: Organisation and special features of the nuclear and extranuclear genomes of plants. DNA and RNA metabolism in the perspective of plants’ molecular life. Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation. Molecular regulation of plants’ ontogenetics. Fungal nuclear and extranuclear genomes, genome organization. Genome evolution of fungi. Molecular background and regulation of different processes of fungi (e.g. hyphal growth, sexual and asexual reproduction). Primary and secondary metabolisms, its molecular regulation. Environmental factors, stress.
Assessment method
k5 = exam mark (5) (1 failed, 5 excellent) Preparation for the exam from the class material and the given textbooks. There is a e-test, after its successful achievement an oral exam part. The mark is calculated based on the results of those two parts.
