Learning outcomes
The course provides a detailed overview of the factors that influence behaviour and the regulation of emotional and motivational states.
Course content
Factors influencing behavior. Motivation and its neurobiological substrate. The role of reward in regulating behavior. The mesolimbic system and its cortical regulation. Agents acting on dopamine and other systems, addiction. Regulation of feeding behavior. Short and long term regulations. Mechanisms of satiety. Social behaviors and their neural background. Social interactions, social reward. Social recognition, social memory. Physiology of sexual behavior. The neurobiology of lordosis and other female behaviors. Male sexual behavior, neuronal and endocrine regulation. Parental behaviors. Maternal behaviors and their changes during pregnancy and lactation.
Assessment method
k5 = exam mark (5) (1 failed, 5 excellent) The colloquium for the examination period must be prepared from the material of the lectures and the given literature. The mark of the course is calculated from a test during the semester (30%) and an essay as a written exam (70%).
